Half-term 'holiday favourites' revealed

Half-term 'holiday favourites' revealed
25 Feb 2011

The US, Ireland and Thailand were the most popular destinations among British travellers this half-term, according to pre-paid holiday card provider Escape Travel Money.

These three countries saw the highest use of the company's currency card, while traditional favourite Spain was in fourth place.

Paul Smith, managing director of EZPay, the company that provides the card, pointed out that many holidaymakers have been heading to destinations in America and Thailand to make the most of bargains.

'Tour operators and airlines have had some great deals to the US and Thailand for the school break and this seems to have struck a chord with holidaymakers, whose bargain hunting extended to making sensible currency decisions,' he commented.

Mr Smith also said it is 'interesting' that Ireland has performed so well this half-term.

Families heading to the US and Thailand during school breaks this year can visit popular destinations such as Florida and San Francisco in America and Phuket in the south-east Asian country.
