Monarch boosts summer flight capacity

Monarch Airlines has announced that it will be offering more passenger capacity on its flights from UK airports this summer.

The majority of the extra scheduled services will be available from Luton airport, with additional connections to destinations such as Gibraltar, Alicante, Mallorca, Dalaman and Faro set to be introduced from 27 May.

Travellers will also be offered an additional weekly flight from Manchester to Larnaca, while 16,000 more seats will be available from Gatwick to summer hotspots such as Lanzarote, Mallorca and Malaga.

Monarch announced the capacity increase in response to strong demand from customers.

Managing director Kevin George said: 'Bookings for summer are already up 27% compared with the same time last year with demand from customers still increasing, so we are delighted to respond to this by adding over 135,000 additional seats to our flying programme this summer season.'

Simon Harley, business development manager at Luton airport, welcomed Monarch's announcement and highlighted the 'convenience and value' on offer to passengers catching flights from the base.
