Koh Samui's first luxury resort to be refurbished

Baan Taling Ngam Resort and Spa, the first luxury accommodation complex on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand, is set to undergo a refurbishment.
More than $15m (£9.25m) is being invested to redevelop the 79-room property before its management is handed over to InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
IHG announced that the resort will be equipped with the 'outstanding facilities that guests have come to expect from an InterContinental property' and is expected to reopen on 1 December this year.
Jan Smits, the hotel chain's managing director in Asia and Australasia, said: 'Our region has many natural locations ideal for resorts, and Koh Samui remains one of the most popular travel destinations in Thailand.
'The InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort supports our focus on the resort segment and is a wonderful addition to our portfolio.'
Koh Samui is located approximately an hour away from Bangkok, Thailand's capital city, and is famous for its scenic beaches and the nearby marine park.
