Greek isles offer 'tremendous variety'

Greek isles offer 'tremendous variety'
3 Mar 2011

Holidaymakers planning a trip to the Greek islands should have no difficulty finding things to do, as the destinations offer 'tremendous variety in a relatively small area', according to an expert on the region.

Chris Deliso, author of Lonely Planet's guides to Greece and the country's islands, said that visitors are 'rather spoiled for choice'.

He recommended seeking out some of the diverse experiences on offer and also travelling between different locations.

'The Greek isles have basically anything you want: from windsurfing to wineries, from superb archaeological ruins to ultra-chic boutique hotels, from rustic country fare to gourmet dining and from traditional Greek music to trance parties - they've got it all,' said Mr Deliso.

'The time-honoured practice of ferry-hopping between islands is also an integral part of the experience for visitors.'

Crete is a good option for holidaymakers who want to be able to choose from relaxing experiences as well as nightlife and activities, according to the Lonely Planet author, while Santorini and Rhodes both offer spectacular architecture.
