11 Mar 2011

Publishing company Jonglez is launching a new guide to Madrid this year that aims to uncover some of the hidden experiences and attractions on offer in the Spanish capital.

Secret Madrid by Veronica Ramirez Muro will be released in May at a retail price of £10.99.

The 256-page guide will comprise 150 photographs and information on more than 200 unusual sights and places in the city.

In a statement announcing the release of the book, Jonglez says: 'Madrid is overflowing with extraordinary and little-known places and curiosities. You just have
to know where to look.'

The company recommends visiting a subterranean mine in the centre of the city, finding out how a former king had his medicine made using alchemy and exploring an underground art gallery.

Travellers can also pick up guides from Jonglez focusing on the 'secret' sides of cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Venice and Paris, as well as books covering unusual hotels in the UK and Ireland.
