A trip to Florence could be a popular option this year among travellers with an interest in the history of Italian art.

An exhibition entitled Figure, Memorie, Spazio opened at the famous Uffizi Gallery in the Tuscan city this month and will run until 12 June.

The show represents a collaboration between the gallery and the British Museum and has already been presented at the London institution.

Visitors can see a diverse range of drawings created in the decades between the early 15th and 16th centuries, which provide an insight into the artistic and creative climate in Florence and central Italy at the time.

Some of history's most influential and respected artists are represented in the display, including Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli and Ghirlandaio.

A trip to Florence provides the opportunity to see countless masterpieces and fascinating exhibitions at institutions such as the Accademia Gallery and the Bargello Museum, as well as landmarks like the Duomo.
