Explore 'eclectic' Key West on a Florida holiday
14 Apr 2011

Travellers hoping to take in as many experiences as possible during a trip to Florida this year can visit Key West, which has been described as an 'eclectic mix of modernity and history'.

Key West is located at the end of the Florida Keys, a 120-mile-long island chain that begins at the state's south-eastern tip.

Kate Burgess-Craddy, the UK representative of the destination's promotional agency, said that the city is home to traditional wooden houses as well as 'elaborate carved fascias and lush gardens', situated along walkways lined by palm trees.

Ms Burgess-Craddy also noted that people visiting the Florida Keys can experience a destination that is different to other parts of the state and the US.

'The Keys have a very different feel to other parts of Florida and the USA, being extremely laid back, relaxed and welcoming to all comers,' she said.

'Being sub-tropical, the weather is lovely and warm all year round, but cool sea breezes keep temperatures comfortable during the summer.'

British Airways recently boosted access to Florida with the introduction of daily flights to Tampa from London Gatwick.
