Travellers visiting Tunisia this year will discover a country that is now full of 'warmth and optimism', according to the national tourism agency.

Anissa Ramoundi, UK and Ireland director of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, said this year's revolution has created a new sense of liberty in the north African nation.

She pointed out that, for the first time, citizens can now think and speak freely without fear.

'We are proud of the progress our country has made and look forward to welcoming British visitors this summer to experience the warmth and optimism of the new Tunisia,' added Ms Ramoundi.

The tourist board also highlighted some positive developments in the industry, such as the opening of the Movenpick Gammarth hotel in Tunis, which will be welcoming visitors this summer.

Guests at the five-star property can head to the spa, enjoy views of the village of Sidi Bou Said and explore Tunis, the country's vibrant capital city.
