New Virgin Atlantic flight 'to boost Grenada tourism'

New Virgin Atlantic flight 'to boost Grenada tourism'
4 May 2011

The tourist board representing the Caribbean island of Grenada has welcomed the news that Virgin Atlantic will be offering additional flights to the destination later this year.

A new service will be available with the airline on Mondays from 31 October 2011.

As a result of the launch, travellers will be able to choose from five weekly departures from London Gatwick to Grenada.

British Airways flies to the island on Sundays and Tuesdays and Monarch Airlines offers charter flights on Wednesdays, while Virgin Atlantic now offers two weekly connections to the destination on Mondays and Thursdays.

Sharon Bernstein, UK and Ireland manager of the Grenada Board of Tourism, said: 'Gone are the days of rigid seven- or 14-night holidays, and the addition of another Virgin flight means Grenada provides UK travellers with greater flexibility such as ten-night packages.'

Holidaymakers planning a luxury break in the Caribbean can experience British Airways' first class product on some of its Grenada services, while the exclusive ten-suite Calivigny Beach House will open this summer.
