Dubrovnik to offer a feast of culture at summer festival

Culture vultures will be catching flights to Dubrovnik this year to be part of one of the biggest annual events on the Croatian city's calendar.
The 62nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival will have its opening ceremony on 11 July and will run until 25 August.
Every year, the cultural showcase brings music concerts, theatre productions, operas and dance shows to more than 70 open-air venues across the city.
In 2011, the festival will feature highlights including performances by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra on Ruder Boskovic Square and the National Folk and Dance Ensemble at the Rector's Palace Atrium in the first week.
Several foreign companies and musicians will also be taking part, with soloists from the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra (27 July) and American pianist Stephen Kovacevich (29, 31 July) set to entertain visitors.
Other highlights to look out for include a staging of the Nikolai Gogol play The Government Inspector at the foot of Minceta Fort and screenings of films such as Made in Dagenham and White Countess.
