Couple complete social media-designed holiday in Ireland
27 May 2011

A couple from Bath have today (27 May) completed a driving holiday in Ireland that was entirely dictated by users of the social media sites Facebook and Twitter.

Samantha and Nick Brown from Bath were selected by Tourism Ireland to embark on a week-long tour of the country and put themselves at the mercy of internet users.

The social media platforms were used to provide tips and decide on activities in the various destinations on the trip.

Starting their journey with a flight to Belfast, the couple visited a number of popular attractions in Northern Ireland, such as Ballycastle, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Giant's Causeway.

They also visited the city of Cork and famous sites and landmarks such as the Cliffs of Moher and Blarney Castle.

Posting her final blog on Tourism Ireland's website, Samantha described the trip as 'a holiday filled with wild-eyed wonderment' and encouraged travellers to embark on their own adventure in the country.
