Korea tourism set to continue 'dramatic' rise

The country's national tourist board has predicted that the current surge in arrivals to South Korea will continue, due to its many UNESCO world heritage sites.
So far this year, approximately 45,000 Brits have visited South Korea, including cruise ship visitors and those arriving on long-haul flights.
Hongki Kim, director of the Korea Tourism Organisation, pointed out that the country boasts ten UNESCO sites, while the cruise ports of Busan and Incheon are also key for tourism.
'We are confident of smashing the 100,000 visitor mark. Korea has been positioned as a new cruise destination. [This] has paid dividends to increase both awareness and [the] appeal of Korea as a tourism destination,' he said.
Mr Kim added that the upcoming Free Trade Agreement between Europe and Korea, which starts on 1 July, is expected to lead to a significant increase in business class flights.
Overall, the first five months of 2010 saw an 11% increase in UK visitors, when compared with the same period last year.
