Film fans invited to New England
23 Jun 2011

Movie lovers have been invited to pay a visit to the New England region of the US to discover its increasingly rich cinematic heritage.

The promotional agency representing this part of America highlighted the film-related attractions on offer in destinations such as Boston, which now boasts a 'movie mile'.

Visitors can participate in guided walks taking in locations that have featured in famous and award-winning releases such as Mystic River, The Departed and The Thomas Crown Affair.

Boston is part of the state of Massachusetts, which is also home to Martha's Vineyard, a popular seaside destination that doubled for Amity Island in Jaws.

Travellers can also pay a visit to Rhode Island, the setting for the Farrelly brothers film Me, Myself and Irene, while the Star Cafe in Milford, Connecticut welcomed Al Pacino and Robert De Niro while they were making Righteous Kill.

New England comprises a total of six states - Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont - and is home to cities such as Portland, Burlington and Lowell.
