EasyJet introduces Catania route
28 Jun 2011

British travellers interested in exploring Sicily can now fly directly to Catania on the Italian island's east coast from London Gatwick.

EasyJet launched a new service to the destination last weekend and is currently offering three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The tenth largest city in Italy, Catania boasts attractions including a historic centre characterised by Baroque elements and architecture, grand palaces, wide streets to explore and Roman amphitheatres.

'Set against the backdrop of Mount Etna and surrounding nature reserve, Catania is a beautiful holiday destination,' said Paul Simmons, easyJet's UK director.

'The port city offers a variety a leisure and cultural activities with something for everyone.'

Catania is the sixth destination to be added to the airline's network from London Gatwick in 2011, with flights to Seville, Izmir, Bologna, Zagreb and Amman being introduced earlier in the year.

EasyJet now operates services to a total of 92 locations from its main base in the UK.
