Buenos Aires 'offers a taste of Latin spirit'
29 Jun 2011
Travellers planning a trip to Argentina should not miss the opportunity to visit the capital city of Buenos Aires, according to Lonely Planet.
Heather Carswell, a spokeswoman for the travel guide publisher, said the destination is 'the place to go' for 'a real taste of Latin spirit'.
She highlighted a number of experiences on offer in Buenos Aires, from enjoying local culture and cuisine to admiring the architecture that gives the Argentinean capital much of its character.
'It is a city where you can find authentic old eateries and tango dancing on every corner, colonial and art deco architecture and stylish hotels, restaurants and bars,' said Ms Carswell.
'It's delightfully cheap, a foodies' paradise and it's fast becoming a must-see destination on any South American itinerary.'
Offering some specific recommendations for people visiting Buenos Aires, the Lonely Planet spokeswoman pointed out that the Recoleta cemetery comprises a 'sprawling maze' of narrow lanes and approximately 4,800 tombs, some of which commemorate famous figures such as Eva Peron.
