Sao Paulo 'famous for good food and nightlife'
30 Jun 2011
Sampling quality cuisine and enjoying some memorable nights out are among the experiences on offer to people visiting Sao Paulo, according to a travel expert.
Heather Carswell, a spokeswoman for Lonely Planet, said the Brazilian city is famous for its 'fantastic' restaurants and nightlife, as well as a flourishing art scene.
She noted that Sao Paulo may not be as picturesque as Rio de Janeiro, but offers just as many attractions and activities.
'It is a sprawling city of 11m people and is not as easy on the eye as Rio so its attractions can go overlooked,' she said.
'The main sites of interest are its cultural centres, markets, churches and museums, as well as Banespa - Brazil's version of the Empire State Building - which has fantastic views of the city.'
Travellers interested in exploring Brazil's largest city can catch flights to Sao Paulo with carriers such as American Airlines, KLM, British Airways and Air France.
