6 Jul 2011

Holidaymakers hoping for a cultural adventure should consider visiting Munich for its art, according to the Bavarian State Opera.

Anna Kleeblatt, a spokeswoman for the opera, suggested that the German city has art to suit all tastes from the 'old Pinakothek' to the newly built Museum of Brandhorst.

She said: '[The Museum of Brandhorst] is really new, and only opened a few weeks ago. It's in the Haus der Kunst –House of Art.'

Ms Kleeblatt suggested that the new video collection, which she described as 'fantastic' by a private collector in the basement of the museum may be of particular interest to the younger generation.

She also recommended visitors to Munich to visit the BMW Museum where they can catch a look at the latest cars from the German manufacturer.

Recent figures released by STR Global have suggested an increasing number of visitors to hotels across Europe.

It stated that occupancy rates of hotels across Europe grew by 5% in May.
