Something for everyone in Rio de Janeiro

Something for everyone in Rio de Janeiro

Almost all travellers will find something to match their interests on holidays in Rio de Janeiro, one of the authors of the Lonely Planet's Brazil guide has insisted.

Kevin Raub said the city is a 'fabled' destination whose attractions, which include the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain, do not disappoint.

'Sugarloaf Mountain, out across the Guanabara Bay, is Corcovado's equally stunning little brother,' he stated.

'Maracana Stadium, one of the world's largest football stadiums, is a symbol of Brazil's football might, and last but not least, there are the world-famous urban beaches of Copacabana, Ipanama and Leblon.'

He said these coastal areas are 'bursting with sun-kissed beauty' all year round.

Mr Raub also pointed out that Rio de Janeiro caters for everything from luxury travel to backpacking, with plenty of accommodation options to suit all tastes.

'The city most stereotypically draws beach hounds, musicphiles, outdoor enthusiasts and partygoers,' he added.
