Oslo Airport named Europe's most efficient
12 Jul 2011
Oslo International Airport in Norway has been named the most efficient major air transport hub in Europe.
The 2011 ATRS Global Airport Performance Benchmarking Project from the Air Transport Research Society put it in first place in the large airport category.
The hub regained the title it lost in 2008 to Copenhagen Kastrup International Airport, having won in 2007.
Oslo International Airport has also been named Europe's most punctual hub four times by the Association of European Airlines.
An extension of the hub with a second terminal was approved in January this year and the project is expected to be completed in 2017.
By this time, around 28 million passengers a year are expected to fly through the airport.
The second terminal will have new departure and arrival areas as well as a new baggage handling facility.
Geneve Aeroport was named most efficient airport in Europe in the small to medium airport category.
