Female travellers offered holiday packing tips

Female travellers have been offered some top tips on what to pack when they go on holiday, to avoid taking too much luggage.

Ally Oliver, fashion commentator and assistant editor at Closer magazine, said most women over pack by at least 25%.

She urged women to 'get tough' on themselves and think about whether they really are going to wear all the clothes they plan to take with them.

'When you think you have everything, lay it all out on the bed before packing into your suitcase,' she suggested.

'Layer it into tops, dresses, shorts, swimwear et cetera and take a good hard look at how many you have in each pile.'

Ms Oliver also suggested taking cosmetics with double or triple uses to save on weight allowances, and to take no more than three pairs of shoes.

In terms of key holiday items, she said the playsuit can be a holiday essential, while kimonos are the new cardigans, as they can be dressed up or down.
