Dublin recommended for couples
27 Jul 2011

Couples looking for a destination for a romantic getaway have been encouraged to consider Dublin.

Aoife Finnegan, a spokesperson for national tourism website DiscoverIreland.com, said that the city derives much of its charm and appeal from its rich history and the wide range of things to see and do.

She also highlighted the variety of accommodation options available, singling out the Trinity Capital and Merrion hotels as good choices.

Commenting on some of the evening experiences on offer to couples visiting Dublin, Ms Finnegan said: 'There are lovely little cosy pubs you can go in and have a pint or a hot whiskey.

'If you prefer a bit of nightlife, the city centre is always buzzing so there's a great choice of places to go to there.'

The Irish capital is also home to plenty of dining establishments, such as the famous Bewleys Cafe on Grafton Street and L'Ecrivain, which boasts a Michelin star.

Popular local attractions include the Guinness Storehouse, the Irish Museum of Modern Art and the Temple Bar district.
