Autumn 'a great time to visit Washington DC'

Britons interested in paying a visit to Washington DC have been encouraged to arrange their trip in the autumn.
According to Capital Region USA - a promotional organisation representing Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia - the season is a 'great time' to visit the city.
Among the attractions of the destination in the autumn are events like the National Book Festival, which will take place in the National Mall, not far from famous landmarks and the Smithsonian museums, on 24 and 25 September.
The celebration of American and international literature will include book signings, lectures and other events.
On the first weekend in September, travellers will be able to join in with celebrations of a quintessentially American form of music at the DC Blues Festival, with live concerts and free guitar and harmonica workshops.
Washington DC's Fashion Week will also be held in the autumn, along with exhibitions celebrating artists such as Edgar Degas at the Phillips Collection and Andy Warhol at the National Gallery of Art.
