Travellers visiting the US during the autumn months will experience 'nature at its finest', according to an industry group.

Stella Clery-Ackland, a spokeswoman for the US Travel Association, said that the country offers a wide range of experiences in autumn, or 'the fall' as it is known locally.

Travellers can visit the New England region in the north-east, which is famous for its unique natural spectacles at this time of year, or explore the states of Michigan and Wisconsin, both of which were recommended by Ms Clery-Ackland for their outdoor sights and attractions.

The spokeswoman also urged visitors to see some of the country's national parks, which encompass landscapes ranging from lush forests to deserts.

She said: 'The best way to truly experience [the] USA's outdoor splendour is to explore the wonderful national parks.

'The parks now span the country from the wilds of Alaska to the Everglades of Florida and offer nature at its finest throughout the autumn period.'
