Marrakech 'blends history with modern culture'

Marrakech 'blends history with modern culture'
8 Aug 2011

Travellers planning a trip to Marrakech can look forward to experiencing a combination of history and modern culture.

That is according to the Moroccan National Tourist Office's UK trade marketing manager Faical Alaoui, who said that the city blends the 'treasures' of its past with the 'vibrant energy' of the modern day.

Mr Alaoui recommended visiting local markets and historical attractions to soak up the feel and atmosphere of Marrakech.

'Visitors can enjoy the experience of a daily living culture, arts and crafts in its souks and Medina, mixed with a taste of history via its historical sites,' he said.

Another activity on offer to travellers is taking a trip into the nearby Atlas mountains, the home of Morocco's Berber communities.

'We believe that both adventurous and cultural tourists will enjoy the landscapes and the daily culture of the Moroccan Berbers,' said Mr Alaoui.

Bmi recently announced plans to increase the frequency of its flights to Marrakech from three to five services per week from 1 October 2011.
