Bmi has commenced operations on a new route from London Heathrow to Nice in the south of France and has also announced a service to Agadir in south-west Morocco, which will be introduced on 29 October.

Travellers will be offered daily flights to Nice until 30 October this year, at which time frequency will increase to twice-daily.

The airline's decision to offer a twice-weekly connection to Agadir follows its recent launch of routes to Marrakech and Casablanca in Morocco.

Joerg Hennemann, bmi's chief commercial officer, said: 'Located on the south-east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, Nice has long been a favourite year-round destination and we are delighted that our customers now have the chance to discover this cosmopolitan city with convenient schedules.

'The addition of Agadir will enable us to meet the increasing demand from both corporate and leisure customers.'

He went on to describe the Moroccan city as a 'vibrant' destination that is known for its good weather throughout the year, 'unspoilt' charm and a location at the foot of the Atlas mountains.
