See some movies for free in Orlando
31 Aug 2011

Travellers hoping to add some culture to trips to Orlando this year might have the opportunity to be part of a major event in the city.

The Orlando Film Festival is set to return to the Plaza Cinema Cafe from 19 to 23 October.

At the heart of the festival's ethos is an ambition to showcase 'independent film for everyone', with all of the screenings taking place at the venue free of charge.

Organisers state that their mission is to 'support the cause of independent cinema and to promote culture and the arts in downtown Orlando by exposing a wide audience to the unique and diverse stories told by independent filmmakers from around the world'.

The line-up of screenings for this year's event will be announced soon and people planning to visit are encouraged to reserve their seats in advance.

Holidaymakers planning to visit Florida in the autumn could also join in with the fun at the Halloween events that take place at attractions such as SeaWorld and the Walt Disney resort in October.
