BA invites passengers to support carbon reduction

British Airways is taking part in an initiative that promotes carbon reduction in the UK and gives travellers the opportunity to do their bit for the environment.
The airline launched the UK Carbon Reporting Framework in partnership with BRE, Deloitte and Forum for the Future with the aim of facilitating links between environmental projects and organisations interested in financing such schemes.
BA is the first company to support the framework through its One Destination Carbon Fund.
Jonathon Counsell, head of environment for the airline, described the initiative as 'a milestone for carbon management in the UK'.
He added: 'Through our new One Destination Carbon Fund, which is due to be launched in September, our customers can help support carbon reduction projects based in the UK - something that has not previously been available.'
Peter Madden, chief executive of Forum for the Future, said the framework should result in extra funding for attempts to tackle climate change and more green jobs.
