The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has transported five colourful dragons to the UK and is currently presenting them in London.

Based in South Molton Street, the display is part of the Hong Kong - Live in London! promotion, which began yesterday (12 September).

The two-week initiative was designed to highlight the Chinese city as a world-class travel destination.

An open-air carnival on South Molton Street will continue until 18 September, featuring street performances, music and other entertainment.

London residents will also have the opportunity to sample Hong Kong cuisine at Mews of Mayfair, which will serve a special menu co-created by Michelin-starred chef Tsang Chiu King until 25 September.

Dawn Page, UK and northern Europe director of the HKTB, said: 'The dragon installations on South Molton Street embody the cosmopolitan vibe, the fusion of East and West, the diversity, trend-setting fashion and vibrancy of Hong Kong.'

She added: 'Through these dragons and other activities in the Hong Kong - Live in London! promotion, we want British travellers to feel the spirit and energy of Hong Kong, and [to] encourage them to visit the city.'

The UK is Hong Kong's largest source market in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, with some 516,000 Brits visiting the destination in 2010.
