19 Sep 2011

Travellers visiting New York this year will be able to see hit musical Mamma Mia! as it celebrates its tenth anniversary on Broadway.

The show opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on 18 October 2001, making it the tenth longest-running show in the history of the famous theatre district.

A series of ten special live events - dubbed the Super Trouper Celebration - will be taking place in the New York area over the coming months to mark the anniversary.

Judy Craymer, global producer of Mamma Mia!, said: 'New York audiences embraced us when we arrived on Broadway and gave us the encouragement and support to not only send the show around the world, but to brave Hollywood and the movies.

'The global success would never have happened without the energy of New York City.'

New York visitors looking for some evening entertainment can also see productions such as Wicked, The Lion King, Mary Poppins and Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark on Broadway this year.
