Shirley Valentine has been named the most inspirational travel film in the Holiday Extras Customers' Awards 2011.

Released in 1989, the movie stars Pauline Collins as a bored housewife who decides to inject a bit of excitement into her life by jetting off on an all-expenses-paid holiday to Greece.

It was named the most inspirational travel film ahead of four other nominees - An Idiot Abroad, Around the World in 80 Days, Australia and The Beach.

Emirates was also among the winners in this year's Holiday Extras Customers' Awards, picking up the best airline and cabin crew accolades.

Virgin Atlantic was named the leading carrier for disabled travellers and people with babies, while easyJet was recognised for its value for money.

Other award recipients included the Sofitel London Gatwick (best airport hotel), Belfast International (best airport), Lonely Planet (best travel guide publisher) and Edinburgh Park and Fly (best airport car parking).
