Central Florida 'ideal for a nature-themed family holiday'

Central Florida could be the ideal destination for families planning a nature-themed holiday with plenty of fun and outdoor activities, according to the local tourist board.
Jo Eckersley, UK public relations representative for the Central Florida Visitors & Convention Bureau, said the region offers 'outstanding natural beauty'.
She highlighted attractions such as Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales and Westgate River Ranch in the same area, as well as the Fantasy of Flight aircraft collection in Polk City.
'We've got 554 natural freshwater lakes and they occupy about 135 square miles. It's a bit like a giant equivalent of the UK's Lake District, but with a great sunny climate most of the year,' added Ms Eckersley.
'[There are also] watersports, of course - with all those lakes, central Florida has long been recognised as the water ski capital of the world.'
Other outdoor pursuits on offer in this part of the US include largemouth bass fishing trips specifically designed for families and airboat rides providing the opportunity to spot alligators.
