'Never been a better time' to visit Cook Islands
26 Sep 2011
There has 'never been a better time' to visit the Cook Islands, according to the tourism agency representing the destination.
The organisation encouraged travellers to consider a trip to the archipelago following the recent launch of an Air New Zealand route from Sydney to Rarotonga.
Highlighting the experiences on offer to holidaymakers, the Cook Islands Tourism Corporation said: 'You can simply laze on some of the world's best beaches if you want, but many visitors to the Cook Islands can't wait to explore the exhilarating environment.'
Watersports are particularly popular, with lagoons providing plenty of submarine environments for divers and snorkellers to explore and activities such as kayaking and kite surfing also available.
Animal lovers can spot turtles throughout the year and humpback whales between July and October.
Those planning to stay on dry land can hire a scooter to ride the 32km Rarotonga island circuit or embark on a trek to the Needle, the isle's highest point.
