Washington visitors urged to see Old Post Office Pavilion
30 Sep 2011
Travellers visiting Washington DC have been encouraged to see the Old Post Office Pavilion, one of 'the most popular and exciting attractions in the city', according to promotional agency Capital Region USA.
The landmark is famous for housing the United States Bells of Congress, which were a gift from England to mark the end of the Revolutionary War in 1783.
It stands at a height of nearly 100 metres, meaning visitors can take in panoramic views of Washington DC from the top of the tower.
Other popular activities include taking a free guided tour with a National Park Service ranger and stopping off at the exhibit room, which provides information on the building's fascinating history and its fight for survival since 1892.
The Old Post Office Pavilion also features sandwich bars, restaurants and other eateries serving a range of international cuisine.
Washington DC is home to some of America's most recognisable sights and landmarks, such as the White House, the Capitol Building and the Lincoln Memorial.
