Award-winning chef to open new eatery at New Orleans hotel
3 Oct 2011
Award-winning chef John Besh has announced that his new restaurant, Borgne, will be located at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans hotel, which is due to reopen in October this year.
Named after a nearby lake that represents the Gulf of Mexico's largest saltwater estuary, the new eatery will serve a brand of cuisine described as 'casual, coastal Louisiana seafood with a touch of Spanish influence'.
It will be one of several food and beverage outlets at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, which is reopening following a $275m (£176.4m) redesign and renovation.
The hotel will also feature nearly 1,200 guestrooms and suites and 200,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
It is located on Loyola Avenue, next to the Louisiana Superdome in the heart of New Orleans' sports and entertainment district.
Mr Besh said: 'Hyatt and I are committed to continue playing a part in the rebuilding of our beloved New Orleans. This location is truly iconic and we welcome being part of its renaissance and look forward to meeting those who dine with us there.
'Gulf seafood is such a major influence on our native cuisine, whether Creole or Vietnamese.'
