Travellers visiting Anchorage during tours of Alaska later this year will be able to check out a series of annual events and celebrations taking place in the city.
The local tourist board recommended festivals such as Downtown for the Holidays, which will mark the beginning of the Christmas season with a range of entertainment and activities.
People visiting Anchorage between 26 and 29 November will be able to see the lighting of the city's tree and meet Santa and his reindeer team.
Another highlight to look out for is a crafts weekend at Anchorage Museum from 25 to 27 November, which will see local artists selling a variety of handmade, unique items.
The event runs in conjunction with the ReadAlaska Book Fair, where authors and illustrators based in the state will promote their various works and creations.
One of the most high profile cultural celebrations set to take place in the region before the end of the year is the Anchorage International Film Festival, which will run from 2 to 11 December.
In 2011, North America's northernmost independent cinema festival will celebrate its tenth year as a showcase of 'films worth freezing for'.
