Nevada State Museum reopening in Las Vegas
19 Oct 2011
The Nevada State Museum is due to reopen on 28 October in a new location - the Las Vegas Springs Preserve.
Covering an area of some 70,000 square feet, the new attraction is double the size of the former museum, which was based at Lorenzi Park.
Visitors will be able to see an array of exhibits and attractions, including the first dinosaur fossils ever documented in Nevada, preserved local wildlife and Las Vegas showgirl costumes.
The site will also feature interactive exhibits, video presentations and other displays providing an insight into the state's history, geography and people.
Peter Barton, administrator for the Nevada Division of Museums and History, said: 'This new museum is a great asset to Nevada, both for visitors and residents.
'It tells a multi-faceted story of our state.'
The $51.5m (£32.8m) complex is based at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve, a 180-acre cultural institution that also encompasses gardens, interpretive trails, event space and other facilities.
