Edinburgh prepares for more festive fun

Edinburgh prepares for more festive fun
24 Oct 2011

Travellers booking flights to Edinburgh and hotels in the Scottish capital for winter breaks will be able to enjoy some of the festive fun and celebrations returning to the city.

Arguably the highlight of the seasonal festivities is Edinburgh's Christmas, an extensive programme of events and experiences that will run from 24 November to 4 January 2012.

Visitors will be able to enjoy fireworks, festive lights, funfairs, Europe's largest outdoor ice rink and many other attractions, which draw thousands of people to the city every year.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to get some Christmas shopping done at events such as the traditional German market coming to Mound Precinct from 24 November to 24 December.

Browsers will be able to pick up handmade gifts, stocking fillers, decorations and other items while tucking into potato cakes, hot crepes, mulled wine and other warm food and drink.

A range of Scottish produce will be showcased at the Highland Village Christmas market, which will open in East Princes Street Gardens on 24 November and run until 4 January 2012.

Venison burgers will be among the culinary treats on offer to visitors, while gift hunters will find teddy bears, jewellery, quirky clothing and other distinctive products.
