Remember to breathe, Alberta visitors advised

The tourism agency representing the Canadian province of Alberta has launched a campaign highlighting the region's impressive landscapes by telling visitors to 'remember to breathe'.

Travel Alberta decided on the new slogan following research which suggested that it would serve as an effective expression of the 'breathtaking' natural features and experiences that draw people to the destination.

Chief executive officer Bruce Okabe said the province is blessed with many 'real and memorable' attractions set against one of the world's most spectacular backdrops.

'We are confident that we will raise awareness of Alberta with travellers around the world with the message "remember to breathe" when you visit here,' he added.

The tourism authority is launching the new campaign to differentiate the region from competing holiday destinations in Canada and abroad.

Alberta currently welcomes some 22m visitors every year, who spend more than $5bn (£3.1bn).

It is hoped that the new brand will help the province boost annual tourist expenditure by $1bn over the next five years.
