Lisbon offers a 'unique atmosphere' in winter
18 Nov 2011

People planning a break in Lisbon during the winter months have been told that they can look forward to experiencing a 'unique atmosphere'.

Miguel Gonzago, visitors bureau brand manager at local promotional agency Turismo de Lisboa, highlighted a number of factors that make Portugal's capital an appealing prospect in winter, including its warm weather, with temperatures rarely falling below 12 degrees C.

The city generally remains dry, with the rainy season coming to an end in September and October.

'Besides that, Lisbon offers a unique atmosphere,' added Mr Gonzago.

'Lisbon is filled with its citizens - nobody is going on holiday, [so there is a good vibe].'

Events on offer in the destination over the coming months include the Christmas markets that open at the beginning of December and an end-of-year party that goes on for three days.

Several carriers operate flights to Lisbon from the UK, including easyJet, British Airways and TAP Portugal.
