Ontario to boast new attractions next year
30 Nov 2011

Travellers exploring the province of Ontario in eastern Canada next year will be able to check out some of the region's newest attractions.

The local tourist board highlighted several developments that are scheduled for completion in 2012, such as the Calypso Theme Waterpark just outside Ottawa, which will feature slides, a river run, a white-water experience and the country's largest wave pool.

Also coming to Ottawa next year is the exhibition Vincent van Gogh: Up Close, which will be on view at the National Gallery of Canada from 25 May to 3 September.

Visitors will be able to see approximately 50 paintings and a selection of Japanese prints in the show.

Ontario's provincial capital, Toronto, will offer new experiences next year such as EdgeWalk at the CN Tower, which will invite visitors to walk on the roof of the landmark's restaurant, 356 metres above the ground.

Other new attractions for travellers to look out for include the Ridge Runner rollercoaster at Blue Mountain in Collingwood.
