London named city with best reputation

London has emerged as the city with the highest standing in the world, according to an annual study by Reputation Institute.
The research took into account overall levels of trust, admiration and positive feeling towards 100 cities in 59 countries, along with 13 separate attributes relating to the economy, administration and general appeal.
More than 35,000 people from 15 countries were surveyed, giving London the highest score, followed by Geneva, Sydney and Vienna.
Other high-profile destinations did not perform as well, with New York City and Hong Kong in 25th and 46th places respectively.
'The study shows that a strong city reputation requires hard work across many different areas - having cultural appeal or being an international business hub is simply not enough,' said Nicolas Trad, executive partner of Reputation Institute.
Comparing the study to a report on country reputations released in September 2011, the consulting firm pointed out that Canada and Sweden won top marks in the national rankings, but their major cities of Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Stockholm were not rated as highly.
