Of Mice and Men to be staged in Edinburgh
12 Dec 2011
Culture vultures planning breaks in Edinburgh next year might want to time their trip to coincide with a stage adaptation of an acclaimed work by one of America's great writers.
John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men will be staged at the Scottish capital's Royal Lyceum Theatre from 17 February to 17 March.
At the heart of the story are George and Lennie, two itinerant field workers travelling through California in search of a job, with hopes of one day living and working on their own land.
The pair start work on a ranch and think that things could finally be going their way, until the childish Lennie unwittingly commits a tragic act that shatters their dreams.
Described by producers as 'theatre at its most powerful', the production at the Royal Lyceum Theatre will feature William Ash and Steve Jackson in the two lead roles.
Also coming to the venue next year is a new take on The Marriage of Figaro, which will open on 23 March.
