Mexico City recommended for cultural activities

Travellers looking for some cultural experiences during a trip to Mexico have been encouraged to visit the nation's capital.

Carmen Laborin, a spokeswoman for the country's tourism promotion agency, pointed out that Mexico City boasts a rich history, a central location and a 'dynamic atmosphere'.

Visitors can see an array of sights and attractions nearby, from ancient pyramids to Spanish colonial architecture.

'Stay at the timeless Melia Mexico Reforma [hotel], within close distance of a number of world-class museums, such as [the] Palace of Fine Arts, National Palace and Metropolitan Cathedral,' Ms Laborin advised.

For holidaymakers searching for adventure, the spokeswoman recommended Los Cabos on the Baja California peninsula, which offers activities including watersports, fishing, trekking and whale watching.

Another popular destination in Mexico is the Riviera Maya, a beach holiday hotspot that is famous for its scenic stretches of white-sand coastline, turquoise waters and resorts such as Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
