Hg2, publisher of the A Hedonist's Guide to… series, has highlighted the potential of locations such as Toronto in a list of possible travel hotspots for 2012.
The company noted that the Canadian city will offer new accommodation options next year in the form of the Shangri-La and Trump Tower hotels, while events like the Toronto International Film Festival will showcase the destination to people all over the world.
Hg2 also highlighted some of the sights and experiences on offer in Bogota, the capital of Colombia, which is notable for its 'rich cultural offerings, mouth-watering foods and lively party scene'.
Visitors can see everything from skyscrapers to colourful colonial houses in the city, which is beginning to leave behind a troubled history marred by drugs and violence.
For 'seasoned nomads and jaded tourists', the travel guide publisher recommended Almaty in Kazakhstan, while people looking for a destination with an 'urban edge and gritty-cool party scene' could check out Johannesburg in South Africa.
