Frankfurt to offer new attractions for art lovers

Frankfurt could prove a popular city break destination for art lovers next year as a result of some new attractions coming to Germany's fifth-largest city.
One of Frankfurt's best-known cultural institutions, the Stadel Museum, will open an underground exhibition hall in February 2012 to house its sizeable collection of contemporary art.
The space will boast features including natural sunlight thanks to its circular skylights.
Another highlight for art enthusiasts to look out for in the German city next year is a Jeff Koons exhibition that was conceived by the artist in cooperation with the Liebieghaus Sculpture Museum and Schirn Kunsthalle.
From 29 June to 23 September, the Liebieghaus will present a selection of Koons' most important sculptures, while the Schirn will focus on his less famous creations.
There will also be some special events coming to Frankfurt next year, such as Luminale 12, which will see various structures throughout the city illuminated by light shows and projections between 15 and 20 April.
On 21 April, the return of the popular Museum Night will see dozens of art galleries and other cultural institutions remaining open until the early hours.
