Puerto Rico 'has advantages over other Caribbean islands'

Travellers planning to treat themselves to a break in the Caribbean during the winter months have been encouraged to consider visiting Puerto Rico, which has some advantages over other destinations in the region, according to the local tourist board.
The Puerto Rico Tourism Company pointed out that the island boasts temperatures exceeding 20 degrees C in winter, but this is something that can be said of many other locations in this part of the world.
One of the destination's distinguishing features, according to the agency, is the quality of its infrastructure, which makes it very accessible and easy to explore.
'Puerto Rico, when compared to the other islands in the Caribbean, has great advantages in terms of very good infrastructure, great road access [and] everything in English,' said chief marketing officer Nicole Rodriguez.
Ms Rodriguez also noted that the island is emerging as a luxury holiday hotspot, with the six-star Dorado Beach Ritz Carlton hotel set to open in December 2012 as part of the Porta Atlantico complex.
