Virgin Atlantic wins top international airline award

Virgin Atlantic was recently named the best international airline in the ninth annual Readers' Choice Awards programme organised by industry publication Travel Weekly.
Readers of the magazine named Delta Air Lines the top American carrier and Singapore Airlines the leading provider of business and first class services.
InterContinental Hotels Group was recognised for the quality of its properties in Asia and Europe, while Marriott International (best US hotel chain) and Ritz-Carlton (best for luxury) also picked up honours in the accommodation category.
In the section covering destinations, South Africa, Australia, St Lucia and Italy were voted the best countries in their respective regions, while Hawaii and Las Vegas were named the top US state and city respectively.
Travel Weekly readers singled out Royal Caribbean International as the leading cruise line in both the US and the Caribbean and voted Celebrity Cruises the top operator in Europe.
Arnie Weissmann, the magazine's editor-in-chief, said the awards identify the 'industry's finest'.
He added: 'The professionals who read and rely on Travel Weekly have the expertise to select those businesses, destinations and hotels that provide a higher level of service to their clients.'
