Hot air balloon flights to be launched at Ayers Rock
11 Jan 2012

Travellers planning a visit to Ayers Rock in Australia's Northern Territory this year will have the opportunity to view the famous landmark, which is also known as Uluru, from a hot air balloon.

The first ever hot air balloon flights at the location are due to be launched in March and will last approximately 30 minutes.

Set to take place at dawn, the services will let guests take in the sight of Ayers Rock and the Patji region just outside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park as the sun rises.

In the past, travellers were only able to access this area with special permits.

The hot air balloon flights will be operated by Outback Ballooning for a price of AU$450 (£300) per person, which will also cover transfers to and from customers' accommodation and a light bush breakfast.

Travellers interested in seeing Ayers Rock and the other sights on offer in the Northern Territory can reach the region by catching flights to Darwin, which are available with carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Qantas and British Airways.
