Travellers catching flights to Boston for a city break later this year might be interested in visiting a new exhibition of early British and French photography in the city.

The show, entitled Silver, Salt and Sunlight, will open at the Museum of Fine Arts on 7 February and continue until 19 August.

It will celebrate what organisers describe as the 'golden age' of early photography shortly after it was invented in Britain and France in 1839.

The years immediately following the inception of the medium were defined by experimentation, with artists using different processes and techniques to achieve a range of effects and modes of expression.

Visitors to the Museum of Fine Arts will be able to see a range of images from the institution's collection arranged according to theme, including works by early pioneers such as William Henry Fox Talbot, Roger Fenton and Julia Margaret Cameron.

The Boston attraction will also unveil a display on 18 February this year showcasing Edouard Manet's use of black in his prints and drawings.
