2012 'the year to visit Malaysia'
16 Jan 2012
A series of events and new experiences will make 2012 'the year to visit Malaysia', according to the tourism agency representing the Asian nation.
The country will enjoy a boost in profile in the summer with a royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
There will also be several events taking place across the country over the coming year, including a Formula One grand prix at the Sepang circuit on the weekend of 23 to 25 March.
Sports fans will also be heading to the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club from 12 to 15 April for the Maybank Malaysian Open.
For people who would rather take part in sports and outdoor activities than watch them, Tourism Malaysia recommended going scuba diving, embarking on a caving expedition in the Mulu Caves National Park or attempting a two-day return walk to the summit of Mount Kinabalu.
Culture vultures can arrange a trip to the nation in July to check out events such as the Rainforest World Music Festival and the Contemporary Arts Tourism Festival.
